Performance Management

A successful Performance Management Program ensures that employees are assigned responsibilities that support the goals and mission of the organization, know the expected results for their responsibilities, are provided with continuous feedback about their performance, and offered opportunities for development through education, training, and mentoring that will enhance their performance and contribution to the organization in support of the overall goals.

A formal performance management program is in place for most Judicial Branch employees. The system is referred to as NCVIP (Valuing Individual Performance). It is online performance planning and performance evaluations system. It operates on an annual cycle that runs from July 1 to June 30 and consists of three stages:
  1. Performance planning, in which the employee and supervisor identify individual performance goals that align with organizational goals. Organizational behavioral values are also identified
  2. Performance feedback, which is provided throughout the performance cycle regarding progress towards goals
  3. Annual performance evaluation
There are three performance levels: Exceeds Expectations, Meets Expectations, and Does Not Meet Expectations.

You will receive an email approximately two weeks after the start of your employment prompting you to initiate performance planning with your supervisor.
