Holidays

Eligible employees will receive 12 paid holidays annually. Eligible employees, required to work on a holiday, may receive holiday premium pay or equal time off for holiday work. The usual Judicial Branch holidays are:
  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Easter Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving (2 days)
  • Christmas (3 days)

When a designated holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday will be observed and when the holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday will be observed. If you are required to work on a designated holiday, you may be entitled to Holiday Premium Pay. Ask your hiring authority or supervisor about this or contact the Human Resources Division.

For positive time employees holiday day leave will appear in your HR-Payroll System leave quota 30 days prior to the holiday. If holiday leave is not used within 30 days before or after the holiday, it will convert to holiday compensatory leave.
