Eligible employees in full-time status will receive 24 hours leave per
calendar year (prorated for part-time status) to volunteer in support of
schools, communities, citizens and non-profit organizations. Parents may also use the leave for child involvement such as meetings with a teacher or administrator concerning the employee's child or attending academic or artistic programs (not athletic) in which the employee's child is participating. Alternatively, employees may use Community Service Leave for:
- Mentoring or tutoring an at risk student in a public or non-public school. For such programs, employees may receive one hour per week (up to 36 hours) instead of the 24 hours annually.
- Participating in a literacy program in a public school for students in reading and/or writing skills under a documented agreement between the hiring authority and the public school. Literacy program participation may be up five hours of leave each month while schools are in session (not to exceed 45 hours a calendar year)
